The Eyelash Tarot Experiment

The Eyelash Tarot Experiment: Meditations on Writing, Randomness and Hanging On, a collaborative essay with Eyglo Karlsdottir, is now published and available for you to order from Calque Press.

When Calque suggested I might write something about tarot, I really didn’t quite know which way to take. Hence I asked Eyglo to co-write with me. Even then, it took a long time to decide on a direction, especially as both of us use tarot cards only as creative prompts or opportunities for self-scrutiny rather than fortune-telling devices that predict our fates and destiny.

In the end, we devised a plan to draw four cards each and just freewrite, self-reflect and possibly design a story or finish the story.

What we produced is a constellation of legends, landscapes, thoughts, memories, associations, fear, grief, contrasts, mucking about, archetypes, autobiographies, frustrations, observations and lots and lots of suggested creative writing exercises.

If you want to see our cards, you can order a copy here.
